Today we also honor a saint who tried his best: Saint Jimmy Carter, Peacemaker and honest agent of hope.
There is too much to write about Saint Jimmy at this moment, but suffice it to say:
-he was honest
-he was hopeful
-he tried his best
-he hated political games and paid the political price
-he tried to make the world better for others, not for himself
-he stands in stark contrast to the political winds of today, but he stood up to the powers prevailing today.
Jimmy Carter is a reminder to me, and should be for the whole church (everyone?!) that power doesn’t mean you lose your values.
And values matter.
Let those with ears to hear, hear.
